Landmark 594-Km Ganga Expressway Inaugurated by PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the 594-km long, six-lane Ganga Expressway today, marking a massive leap in India’s infrastructure development. This ambitious project connects Meerut in western Uttar Pradesh to Prayagraj in the east, effectively slashing travel time between the two cities from 12 hours to just 6–8 hours. Built with an estimated investment of over ₹36,000 crore, the expressway is designed to act as a backbone for economic growth in the heartland of India. It features an air-strip for emergency landings by Air Force planes, reflecting its strategic importance beyond civilian transport. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister emphasized that this corridor will create a “Yashasvi” (prosperous) Uttar Pradesh by fostering new industrial hubs. Thousands of jobs are expected to be generated in the logistics and manufacturing sectors along the route. The project also incorporates advanced green technology, with extensive plantation drives on both sides to mitigate its environmental footprint. Local farmers are hopeful that the increased connectivity will allow them to reach larger markets with fresh produce more efficiently. Digital tolling systems and high-tech surveillance have been integrated to ensure a seamless and safe journey for commuters. Experts suggest that the expressway will serve as a vital link for the upcoming Kumbh Mela, facilitating the movement of millions of pilgrims. This inauguration is seen as a key achievement for the government ahead of the next major electoral cycle in the state. The Ganga Expressway stands as a testament to the “Gati Shakti” vision of modernizing India’s transport networks.
