Clashes Break Out During CJP March to Parliament over NEET Accountability in Delhi

The national capital experienced intense political tension as thousands of youth protesters, organized under the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) banner along with student groups and activists, attempted a massive march toward Parliament on the opening day of the Monsoon Session. The agitation, led by activist Sonam Wangchuk and CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, was called to demand greater accountability, systemic transparency, and government dialogue over contested issues including NEET-UG examination irregularities and youth unemployment. What began as a peaceful assembly at Jantar Mantar escalated rapidly when protesters breached police barricades placed along the route toward Central Delhi. To control the advancing crowd, security personnel deployed tear gas shells and water cannons, leading to widespread chaos and minor stampedes on major arterial roads. Over 100 individuals, including university students, prominent public figures, and several senior police officers, sustained injuries during the violent scuffles. Delhi Traffic Police issued urgent travel advisories shutting down surrounding metro station gates and re-routing commuter traffic near Connaught Place and Janpath to restore public order. Following the escalation, several regional and political leaders were temporarily detained from protest sites, igniting sharp criticism from opposition MPs who condemned the excessive use of force against peaceful demonstrators. In response, the Ministry of Home Affairs submitted a statement to the High Court clarifying that videography and monitoring were standard safety measures intended to prevent public disorder rather than unauthorized surveillance. Meanwhile, protest organizers confirmed their intent to continue sit-in demonstrations at Jantar Mantar while hospital authorities closely track Sonam Wangchuk’s health amid his ongoing hunger strike. The political fallout immediately reached the floors of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, triggering heated debates and sudden adjournments as lawmakers clashed over law enforcement actions.
