PM Modi Embarks on Five-Nation Tour to Bolster Global Energy Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to begin a high-profile five-nation diplomatic tour tomorrow, with Abu Dhabi serving as his crucial first stop. This visit marks a significant moment for India’s foreign policy, as it is the second face-to-face meeting between PM Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in just five months. The primary agenda for the discussions in Abu Dhabi is energy security, a top priority for India given the ongoing volatility in global oil markets and geopolitical tensions in West Asia. India currently relies on the UAE for nearly 11% of its total crude oil requirements, making this partnership vital for national economic stability. Beyond energy, the leaders are expected to review progress on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on technology, artificial intelligence, and food security. The welfare of the four million-strong Indian diaspora living in the UAE will also be a major point of discussion during the bilateral talks. This tour will subsequently take the Prime Minister to the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy, signaling a robust outreach to European partners. Government sources suggest that new pacts regarding strategic petroleum reserves and LPG supplies may be signed during the UAE leg. The visit underscores India’s proactive role in securing diversified energy corridors amid shifting global alliances. As the world watches, these meetings could redefine India’s influence in the Middle East and its energy future for the coming decade.
