Political Stir in New Delhi: Protests and High-Level Political Dharna Over Examination Leaks

Political and civil friction intensified in India’s capital following widespread protests surrounding the national competitive examination paper leaks. Key opposition leaders and student bodies gathered near administrative centers and historic protest sites, such as Jantar Mantar, to demand immediate institutional reforms, strict accountability, and the resignation of senior officials within the Ministry of Education. The political drama reached a peak when top Congress leaders staged an unannounced dharna near the Prime Minister’s residence after parliamentary debates on the issue stalled. Demonstrators called for a complete revamp of standard testing procedures to prevent systemic leaks and safeguard the academic futures of millions of students. Security measures across the national capital were quickly heightened, with the Ministry of Home Affairs deploying additional paramilitary forces, including Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) units, to manage crowd control and maintain public order. Despite police detentions and clearings, student groups and political allies regrouped, signaling an ongoing deadlock during the legislative session. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the issue publicly, assuring the nation that strict legislation and enforcement actions would be taken against exam paper leakers and fraudulent networks. However, opposition parties rejected these assurances as insufficient, pledging to continue nationwide demonstrations until formal parliamentary discussions take place.
