In response to a severe and unrelenting heatwave sweeping across multiple states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a comprehensive public advisory urging citizens to prioritize their safety and well-being. As temperatures surge past normal thresholds in northern, central, and western parts of the country, the government has mobilized healthcare networks to manage the influx of heat-related illnesses. In a series of public statements, the Prime Minister emphasized the critical importance of staying properly hydrated, minimizing outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours, and carrying water whenever stepping out. He highlighted that vulnerable demographics—specifically children, the elderly, and outdoor manual laborers—are at an incredibly high risk of suffering from dangerous conditions like heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Beyond personal safety, the advisory carries a strong message of community compassion, encouraging citizens to look out for their neighbors, check on elderly relatives, and place water bowls in balconies or terraces for birds and animals affected by the blistering weather. Medical centers and local municipal bodies across heavily impacted regions have been directed to set up dedicated heat-relief camps, distribute oral rehydration salts (ORS), and ensure an uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water in public spaces. Authorities have also warned the public to stay vigilant for early warning signs of physical distress, such as sudden dizziness, intense nausea, headaches, and extreme fatigue, advising that anyone showing these symptoms should be moved immediately to a shaded, cool environment. As meteorologists predict that the scorching conditions are likely to persist over the coming days, the central government is working in tandem with state disaster management authorities to monitor real-time temperature fluctuations, manage power grids under heavy load, and issue localized red alerts to prevent casualties during this intense summer peak.
