Reliance Jio has announced the launch of ‘Jio-Brain’, a nationwide AI infrastructure designed to power the next generation of Indian smart cities. Utilizing the massive 5G and 6G networks across the country, Jio-Brain will manage everything from AI-driven traffic management in Mumbai to smart waste collection in Bangalore. The platform is built on an open-source framework, allowing Indian developers to build “City-Apps” that can predict power outages and optimize water distribution. During the launch event, it was demonstrated how Jio-Brain could reduce city-wide traffic congestion by 25% through real-time signal optimization. The initiative also includes a massive “Edge Computing” network, placing AI processing units in every major neighborhood to ensure lightning-fast response times. International tech firms are already looking at Jio-Brain as a model for urban management in developing nations. The project aims to make Indian cities “Self-Healing” by automating the detection and repair requests for public infrastructure. This marks a major shift from mobile data services to deep-tech infrastructure for the Reliance group.
